Annotation:
Now that the Second Civil War is over and everyone agrees on reproductive rights, every child has the right to live until they are thirteen. Once thirteen, parents now have the right to "unwind" their child and get that troublesome brat off their hands. Maybe life is a bit more precious then we thought?

Book Talk:
What would you do if your parents wanted to "unwind" you by giving all your organs to others to be transplanted? Technically you're not dead but your not a whole person either. This is exactly what happens to Connor, Risa, and Lev. Connor is too difficult for his parents to handle. He gets in trouble and his parents are unsure how to control him. Risa, who is actually a ward of the state, isn't good enough to be kept alive. And Lev well he was born to be unwound. When an accident put the three teens together all they will have to do is survive until they are eighteen. But how can they survive when everyone is on the look out for them???
